No, I do not recall it as I always walked westward. Yet nice to hear that you are trodding the same way as I did fifty years before! I wonder whether such bus 12A then – or did it pass Garden Road?

Thanks, that would be appreciated. When I returned in 1989 I hardly recognized the road! Now I hear that HK has even changed more since that time.

I’ll take a few photos of areas that look like they may match the film clip.

I’m a recent arrival, so I haven’t developed any real routines yet. Some days when the weather isn’t cooperating, I hop the 12A bus to Central, though I prefer to walk it. Every other day I walk up the stairs to Bowen to run along the rare bit of level road in the Mid-levels. My wife and I live at Welsby Court at 78-80 MacDonnell, which is an older low-rise. Perhaps you recall it?

I live on MacDonnell Rd now very close to the location of your former home. The stairs still exist; here are several sets of them between MacDonnell and Kennedy as well as MacDonnell and Bowen Rd above. Wonderful videos.

OMG, I used to live at 100. Macdonnell Road when I was a child. That water running down the steps looks so familiar. The steps link Macdonnell Raoad & Kennedy road by the school St. Pauls Co-ed where I attended. I left H.K. when I was 17. Thanks for the great clips! ;-P

Of course there was no taping, or video recording at the time. It was filmed with my 9,5mm filmcamera. I asked friends to record me going to the office. The film was intended for my parents home, who were not to see me again in six years’ time.
